Equality and Diversity Officer
Welcome to all you lovely Freshers! My name is David Allwright and I studied Bsc Oceanography at Southampton for the last few years. Fun fact about me is that I am a professional Scottish country dancer and like nothing better than improv theatre, singing and swimming.
I have been elected to be your Vice-President of Welfare which means I am passionate about a whole range of issues such as: housing problems, mental physical and sexual health, sustainability and equality. I want to empower students by campaigning for better mental health support at the university and improving how we help you here at the union. I also want to help students get easy information about student housing and get more ethically sourced food and products in the student shop. If you have big ideas about anything then contact me at email@example.com and we can talk about your suggestions or meet up for a coffee.
Oh and remember that everyone is nervous about coming to uni. Just relax, don’t try too hard and everything will be ok. Settling in takes time and you don’t need to put any pressure on yourself!
