A Postgraduate Society for the integration of PhD & MSc students from the Faculty of Medicine, School of Health Sciences and School of Psychology, with the aim to network and reduce isolation of students through both academic and social events..
Hello and welcome to our SUSU page!
Although we are called the Life Sciences Postgraduate Society which covers the faculties of medicine, psychology and health sciences, we welcome ALL postgraduate students! All you have to do is e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We run events at at least twice a month including the popular Midweek Meal & Mingle, bowling, Playzone, paint balling, drinks evenings and annual Christmas & Conference After-Parties. In association with BSPS and SUSU we run the Postgraduate Quiz every other Thursday at The Bridge (Highfield).
We also have a series of academic talks, inviting distinguished speakers from a range of fields, which previously have included Professor David Nutt and Professor David Colquhoun.
You can also follow us on Twitter @LSPS_soton, join our Facebook page, or visit our website www.soton.ac.uk/~lsps (or lsps.tumblr.com) for further information.
These are the current membership plans offered by Life Sciences Postgraduate Study, although many groups offer a free period for new members to try out their group.

We run weekly debates which are free to attend and open to everyone. In the last year we have had the pleasure of welcoming several high profile speakers to these events, including former MP and Government Minister Sir Vince Cable, Spokesperson for the Israeli Embassy Yiftah Curiel and leader of the Liberal Democrats Tim Farron. We also run training sessions to educate people in debating, improve their skills at public speaking and formulating arguments, and prepare them for inter-university competitions.
